About VDS

Imagine how your teeth would feel if you didn’t brush them every day.  Not only would they look bad, but they would also impact your health. The same applies to your pet’s teeth.  Many owners are not aware that bad breath and stained teeth are not only unappealing, but they can also be a sign of a much bigger problem – dental disease, which can detrimentally affect your pet’s overall health.

Only your Veterinarian can determine what type of procedure is appropriate for your pet.  If your Veterinarian finds that your pet is a good candidate for our non-anesthetic program, they will set up an appointment for you with one of our technicians.

VDS has worked with Veterinarians in your area for over 10 years in order to develop techniques to safely and gently clean your pet’s teeth, without the use of anesthesia.  The cleaning will be performed by a trained technician and your pet will always see the same friendly face, allowing them to develop a personal relationship over time.

What is Pet Dental Disease?

According to the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) a large number of pets show signs of periodontal disease at an early age.  In fact the number is as high as 80% for dogs and 70% for cats as young as 3 years old.  If they don’t receive the proper dental care, your pet may develop gingivitis, periodontitis and tooth loss.

After evaluation and recommendation by your Veterinarian, our technicians perform a thorough dental exam and cleaning, while your pet is comfortably resting in their laps.  During this exam we chart any concerns and abnormalities, which are discussed with both the Veterinarian and pet owner.
